Slide to digital
Discussion
I have a 215 slides from my late mother's stuff that I'd like to get digitised, any recommendations? I've had a look online and there are quite a few companies with quite a variation in prices. Cost isn't too much of an issue but I'd like them to be decent quality. Grateful for any pointers.

You have 3 options.1) Scan them yourself. I have an Epson V550 and it can scan slide film. Use Silverfast (or anything but the bundled Epson software, it's st) and you can get good quality scans of the slides.
2) Photograph them yourself. You'll need a DSLR for this and a lightbox arrangement - anything that just shines light up under it. Many people do this as it's quicker than scanning. But I like the misery of scanning, so I don't do this.
3) Outsource it. Places like AG Photographic in BIrmingham can do it for you. You just need to tell them the quality you want and whether you want dust removal. I've never used them though as I do it myself. I did use Jessops twice for it and wasn't impressed that I was paying £10 (or whatever) for someone to sit at a computer with said Epson V550 to scan them in!
