I've inherited many boxes of old, by which I mean pre-Great War, glass plate negatives. A few have photos of cars on them and I wonder if anyone knows of any professional who can scan these for me. I live in Cheshire (about 200 yards from Lodge Corner at Oulton Park, in Pistonheads speak!)

Thanks

I have scanned glass plate negatives with my Canon scanner. The supplied software changes the negative to a positive image.

I've got an Epson XP-520 flatbed scanner but was advised that I needed a 'transparency adapter' on it to provide a light source. Could be cobblers, so I will give it a go. About 15 years ago I had some other old glass plate negatives and there was more than one high street photography shop that could do them for me in Chester. I guess in the digital age there isn't the demand.

Fascinating!

How much of a photographer are you? You could just put them on a lightbox, or hold them up against a white wall and get the exposure right.

Not a photographer at all unfortunately, but as these may end up being published (I'm a member of the Society of Automotive Historians in Britain, checkout https://www.thesahb.com/) I want the best quality possible
