FUJIFILM FinePix S9400W
Discussion
Some might remember I started a thread about a new camera with mega-zoom capabilities that i had a look at after seeing some cracking clear nights and fancied a bit of moon shooting.
I just about pressed the button on a P1000 but perhaps for the first time ever, I decided to have a think and not impulse buy.
In between this, I was having a bit of a clear-out and I found the above camera stashed away that I must have bought ages ago and largely forgot about it.
Apart from the bonus of some decent photos on it, I noticed it had a 50x optical zoom capabilities so I thought I'd have a go.
Pointed it at the moon on a really shonky tripod, put it in Manual, and had a play with some settings. Surprising results really. Really dodgy camera shake from the crap tripod and settings are in need of a tweak but it's a start. It's not going to be making out any footprints on the surface but I'll have a play. I might still buy the P1000 but for now, I'll trouser the £800 and mess about with this.
Again, not award-winning by any stretch of the imagination but will let me play around with manual across all photo scenes before I upgrade.
Additionally, I have an old Canon EOS400D with the standard kit lens and a Sigma 30-200 lens. Picked it up and had a play but no matter what I do the photos are all very overexposed and the detail isn't what I remember. It is long overdue a service and a clean though but I got to thinking that it's just a case that things have moved on a massive amount and while it was decent of it's time it's just old.
Anyway.:
