I shot a canoe slalom closeup in the pouring rain yesterday and one of my 5D2s got drenched and is no longer working.
Tried all the usual things. Is it worth getting repaired or shall I just spring for a newer version?

'Usual things' being taking it apart and leaving it an airing cupboard for a week?

No quite, it only happened yesterday. But opened it up. Battery pack off, including the backup cell. Front cover off, card out, in a warm place. Fingers crossed. I just checked the prices on S/H ones so it's not going to be worth repairing at that rate. Oh well, I might have the pleasure of investing in something newer later this week.

Have you tried placing it in a bag of rice? I know it works for phones. It depends on how much damage has been done internally

Unfortunately it's as dead as a parrot. I got a used 5D3 with only 14k actuations from MBP to replace it. I like it so much I'm going to get another.

Yep, the 5D3 is a cracker. The low light performance is in a different league, and the autofocus for action is still pretty good.
