Have you ever wondered how much effort goes behind a single picture? I decided to create a clip (actually, my first one) to explain the process and show how much effort goes into a fairly simple photo. The most time consuming one I did in the past took almost 8 hours, that's why this one I consider as fairly simple. On this particular picture, I was testing a new way of postprocessing to ensure all my changes are non-destructive and reversible at any point in time.

Three and a half hours of work squeezed into 10 minutes. Putting together the layers, fitting the car into the new backplate, postprocessing and a lot of adjustments, and even drawing from scratch a new windshield and with reflections. It's all there.

If you have any questions, let me know. I hope it will help you to learn something new smile

no youtube links policy, so go to YT and search for: "The Making Of: Lamborghini Huracan Performante Halloween Edition"

@turn7 it is fun to do. This one was a bit easier as it was for myself and I knew what I want to achieve at the end.
It gets harder when you have 10 photos after a photoshoot that require heavy PP afterwards smile

No no no, all photographs are taken in the push of a button whether it’s a phone snap or a carefully planned shoot with multiple OCF.

And there’s no such thing as post processing, the camera takes the pic and that’s that, all you do is press the button and send it to Morrison’s for printing on their small machine.

Or at least that’s what most clients seem to think anyway when you give them a price for their 2 hour family shoot! rolleyes

Got to say providing excellent photographs like yours above is the most under appreciated work, in my humble opinion!

steveatesh, what you said is soo saad... and true.
I think the worst part is that my family thinks I just walk around, push the button, a few clicks with my fancy camera and it's done. I've been asked once to do interior photography of a hotel for brochure and website (for my brother). A proper commercial job. The conversation ended after I gave a quote (it was ridiculously low).

To be honest, the main reason why I created this video was to educate and show how much effort goes into even a simple picture like that.
Hopefully, it also gave some insight to fellow photographers who can learn a thing or two.

I've got a few more ideas for videos, so I will keep them coming, slowly. It's not my main priority at the moment.
Thanks wink

Thanks for this - I found the video very interesting - particularly things like creating a layer for scribbling "to do" notes, and the amount of attention that goes into dealing with reflections etc..

I started making TODO list fairly recently. Previously I quite often ended up with a picture and had to correct it a few times because I missed some details. Since then, I decided to stop for a moment and highlight everything I don't like or needs attention.

The worst thing people can do is to notice something and say to themselves "I will remember". That's how we forget stuff :P
I'm glad you found it at least a little bit helpful smile
