I don't usually get an awful lot of view on my mediocre photos, so when I do, it stands out as a bit odd.

I've had 60 views today of a photo I uploaded in September, 122 total views, the second most viewed today is 4... I know, right! hehe

Is there a way to see if anyone is using it on their website etc?

In the stats it's just showing as Flickr > Mobile > Android.

More intriguing than anything, I won't like the image as I don't want that one getting any more artificial views, trust me, it's nothing special.

Have you tried doing a reverse image search on Google Images?

Yeah nothing shows.

But i wouldn't expect it to, as they are linking directly to the image, rather than having saved it and hosted it elsewhere.

ETA, it's still at 60 views...

I do have another photo which has 430 view, almost double any of my others, which I assume got linked to too, but I never found where from. Again, after the initial views, it's hardly been viewed since.

Dave - down at the bottom of the Stats screen on Flickr is a 'Source Breakdown' section, have you looked into that ?

Yeah, it just had all 60 views listed as Flickr > Mobile > Android.

You could maybe sign up to PIxsy, an image theft website. it's picked a few of mine which have been linked back to Flickr via other sources.

I think Flckr is often like that - you don't say if anyone has "faved" your pics - if they did your photos would appear on their "fave" page and therefore increase the number of people looking. I also think there is a Flckr algorithm that searches photos and selects them for Explore - your view rate would certainly go up then. Otherwise I don't think there is any way to find who has looked at them - and of course, the more people you follow, the more views you get. Pixsy is really to look for copyright infringement and track people who have illegally downloaded and used your images.

I get 1k photos on pixsy for being a Flickr pro member, and £32 a month is a bit steep, I doubt anyone is making any money of my images.

I did try pixsy previously, but got a load of false positives and a load of images which weren't even mine.

The image isn't a favourite or had any comments, but I guess it could have been shared around (it's of a crashed NASCAR from the American festival at brands from years ago).

Just strikes me as being a bit odd, I thought with a bit of googlefu you'd be able to see if someone had used it on their blog etc.

Got a link - then we can all look and boost your numbers even further!

I have had a look so your numbers will have gone up (by 1)!! Lots of cars - but are the dates right? - looks like your most recent was in 2014?

There's been a long standing glitch in Flickr where there will be a sudden spike in apparent views on an image from Android for no particular reason. Have had it a few times.

If you check the source info later for today you'll probably see a few links to that image from pistonheads now that its in this thread (hit 'expand all' and scroll to the bottom of the list).

It is funny though, by far my most viewed images on flickr are two rather uninteresting photos of a rooster.

Did you tag it with "cock" though? hehe

You're correct though, the image being on here does show in the stats, so the android thing is probably just the bug as previously mentioned.

Cheers chaps.

ETA - on a slightly related note, I have an old photo tagged with "we" as it was of the wheelwes sticker on a car at a show. This image shows up as being search for, when people search for "street we". This happens quite regular. Perverts, everywhere! smile

rofl

You actually made me go and check just in case! But no, its one and only tag is 'rooster'.

Rooster by Ben, on Flickr

And yet somehow that image has 3560 views! confused
