Which simple, time-lapse camera?
Discussion
Hello.
I'm looking for a cheap, simple, start-then-forget, weather resistant, time lapse camera.
We're about to have a timber garage built and I thought it would be fun to film the build as it progressed. I'd like to set up a camera, press the 'go' button and forget about it until the build is complete.
As I know nothing aboutanything photography, I thought it best to ask you people if such a thing exists?
What do you suggest?
Thank you.

I'd take a look at an Outdoor CCTV camera, unless you have a suitable indoor location available - bear in mind that IR at night through glass doesn't work, not that it should be an issue covering a garage build.
I have several Dericam ones, and they work pretty well ... importantly they are very easy to set up.
They can be configured to take an image every x seconds and save either to SD card or FTP location.
Loads on Amazon to choose from.

Set up with their App and Instructions is a doddle.
If you want to have greater control of the configuration, then just point a browser to the camera once setup using the app.
Best to use Internet Explorer for this, the necessary "plugins" will need to be downloaded, it will ask you for permission.

Dontcha just love it when an OP tidies up a thread? Even one as low key and nondescript as this one.
In the end, I went with this,
A Brinna TLC200 f1.2.
I set it up at the end of November, with the timer set to take a frame every 60 seconds between 8am and 5pm. I then mounted it on its bracket, overlooking the garden and left it running until the end of June with two SD card swaps in that time. ( I also swapped the batteries in early April as a precaution).
And the little camera did its job perfectly. We now have a 90 minute video chronicling our garden/garage build. Fascinating it is too!
Not that we'll ever watch again, now that we've seen it.

So how many frames/images total did it take then?!
Well you'd have thought it was 212 x 9 x 60 which is 114480 frames but that doesn't tally up with a 90 minute replay time.114,480/20 = 5724 sec
5724/60 = 95.4 min
