This may be a bit of a long shot, but a friend of mine who's in a band has asked me if I wouldn't mind taking a few photos of them, ideally with an industrial type background in London.

I've previously taken a few pics at their gigs and am more than happy to help them out, but I'm really struggling for ideas of possible locations around London. I think they may have some ideas but..

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions please? I'd thought of places like Leake Street, with the graffiti, but would really like something with a more industrial feel.

Just to be clear, they've offered to cover any costs and pay me something, plus a few beers, but as I'm not looking to become a pro, I'm happy for the experience and the credits for any they use. For me, it's a bit like an extension of the monthly photo comp - it's a reason to get out and take some photos. Apologies in advance if this annoys any of the people who do this for a living, but I don't think they'd be employing a pro in this instance, so don't believe I'm potentially depriving anyone of an income! smile

So any and all helpful suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you're after but there's a wide section of pathway next to the Regents Canal under a bridge that could yield some interesting shots. It's a bit spooky and I imagine you'd be able to achieve some good lighting effects in there.

Pop these coordinates into google maps and drop streetview down on the pathway.

Near to there you have Camden so I'm sure you'd find some other good locations around there too.

Thanks for this.
Yes - that certainly looks interesting and the kind of thing that may work well.
I like the idea of bridges, but hadn't even thought about the canal.

Any additional ideas from anyone are also more than welcome!

Thanks.

There's a waste transfer station on the Thames in Wandsworth (Smuggler's Way). They load up containers onto barges using large dock crane type things. Background is very industrial (big shed, containers, pipes, etc). You can get close on the public footpath and the light's pretty good at dusk.

If you wanted to get in, drop me a PM and I'll connect you with the people I know who run the place.

That also looks very interesting - I'll take a wander down there to check it out. Thanks Stevie.
