Now I know why I got an ace deal on a A7R Mk3 on Sunday... ... don't need the 61mp anyway... PartsMonkey said:
The problem with 61mp is having a computer capable of coping with the files. What are you going to do if you have to stich together 10 photos or more for a panorama?
Well, I’m guessing that people edit 4K video with no problem, with available equipment, so it should be fine. Unless you’re a poikey. Whats the glass like on these, ive been hold back upgrading my Canon EOS 6D for a new mirror less '5d' and as ever, Canon seem to be dragging their feet.
i almost jumped onto Fuji GFX but reviews didnt sell me on it, of course the 100 mp version would be great, but even with the greatest man math in the world it makes it a rather difficult sell even to myself.
So, with Canon high pixel mirror less 5D i thought would be the answer, but this pops up and seems pretty amazing, so does the glass quality with Sony compare with the Canon? Assuming it will use the same sensor.
And if people are wondering why i need so many pixels, its printing, i dont use social media, but i do want to print some of my, no doubt amateurish, pictures quite large, and here pixels i believe do count (i dont like stacking photos either to create the pixel count as a lot of what i take are long exposures) i also have mild OCD so knowing i have sharp crisp picture taking potential equipment gives me comfort that its just the idiot using it that cocking it all up.

I had a 6D a while back and switched to Fuji then to Sony (A7Rii) - been very pleased with the image quality and the lens range is very good these days (but not cheap!)i almost jumped onto Fuji GFX but reviews didnt sell me on it, of course the 100 mp version would be great, but even with the greatest man math in the world it makes it a rather difficult sell even to myself.

Sony g master lenses are pretty good, competitive with L range
I just use my Canon though with adaptor
I concur. I have the A7iii and three G master lens - the 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 and 85 f1.4. I just use my Canon though with adaptor
They are all very sharp and very quick to focus (the 85 being slightly slower than the other two), auto focus is very accurate.
I have no experience of the L lens but I’m exceptionally pleased with the quality of the Sony images.

+1. Stunning lens. The glassware available is very good but none of it is cheap.
Yep the 28mm f2, 55mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 make an excellent relatively affordable trio. The Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 RXD is also proving to be an excellent (and extremely affordable for the type) zoom.I have a combo of Sony glass and adapted Canon stuff (via the Sigma MC-11 adaptor) and I've not really found too many downsides with the adapted stuff. Sigma Art lenses are essentially as fast as native, and many L lenses are very, very usable even in relatively demanding situations (the 50mm 1.2 is better adapted than it is native on a Canon body!) Motorsport is the one area where there really are no effective affordable options.
The 135mm f2 is a favourite for me, still as dreamy as ever but with no focus accuracy worries via the MC-11. I got mine for £400, which compared to the Sony GM is kinda insane!
