Quite right .... or not.

Sony A7 £899 on WEX but £729 after Sony Cashback .... Amazon Prime £659

Sony A6500 £1249 on WEX, £949 after Sony Cashback .... Amazon Prime, £949 and the £300 Cashback still applies so £649

Canon EOS 80D Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm IS STM Lens, £1048 on WEX £958 after Cashback .... Amazon Prime £779

How do they sleep at night, the thieving bds!

Doesn't the £150 cashback still apply to the Sony A7 as well, making it £505? I'm really tempted to buy it as a 'cheap' way into the system, but I think it will end up too expensive with the cost of lenses etc.

I have bought an A6500 as a replacement for my NEX7, and it seems a bargain at that price even though it is a few years old now.

The A6500 is obviously still not selling through at the Prime Day price. Amazon have just taken another £50 and then emailed me to to tell me that they'd be refunding the difference.

I assumed that this was because the new replacement camera had been announced, but nothing yet apart from the new super A7R IV.

I suppose it doesn't help that the A6400 has got several improvements over the A6500 even though it is a 'lesser' model, but at £900 vs £600 there is quite a price difference at the moment.

Just caved in and bought the A7, I think the cashback might still apply, bonus if it does.

They do seem to have taken the link to the cash back down from the pages for the A7 and the A6500 now - it was definitely there earlier!

Then again, it isn't on the A6400 page either and that model isn't on a Prime Day deal.

I certainly hope it does apply as it is £300cash back on the A6500.

I also ordered a 16-70 lens to try out as it was reduced to £400 (less £80 cash back.) Unfortunately, they delivered a mini garden trellis instead and will only refund rather than redeliver, so I guess I won't get to try that one out! It's £650 now.

Edited to add: There is still the link at the top of the page to the cash back, just not the banner add lower down anymore.

My point wasn't about the price itself, my point was they were claiming it was a special deal when it obviously hadn't previously been sold at the "before" price, as I'd already bought one at the "new special low" price

That's excellent news. I just got confirmation of mine for the A6500 as well - £599 with a 2 year warranty can't be bad.

I almost wish I had bought an A7 as well at that price, but it would have cost me in the long run!

Me too, £599 (edit £549 as they sent me a £50 credit) with the 2 year warranty.
Sold my A6300 for £470, so a £79 upgrade. Manmaths at its finest thumbup

You did really well then! I bought it at £949, and they credited me £50 to take it to £899, so £599 after cash back. You must have snagged it at £899 and they still gave the credit. Nice!

You got a good price for the A6300 as well, so definitely worth the upgrade. You’d probably pay £79 for the warranty alone, and your A6500 will be worth a bit more than the A6300 come the next upgrade!

I notice it is back down to £949 in the ‘late summer sale’. The A7 is back at £659 (£509 after cash back), but I think I can resist as I am so pleased with the A6500 & 35/1.8 combination.

I did. I also got the £470 from a reasonable person making an offer on Ebay (though still got done over by Paypal).

The 35/1.8 is lovely, though I also like the 16-70/4. Hoping for a 24/1.8 for my birthday.

I'm still a little bitter about missing out on the 16-70/4 in the Prime Day sale, more so when I think about how Amazon dealt with it.

The general view seems to be that the 18-135 is a better and cheaper lens, and it just lacks slightly at the wide end and in build compared to the 16-70/4. I've got the original 18-200 which isn't bad, so I'll stick to that for zoom duties for now. If the 16-70/4 comes back down in price, I'll probably get one though.

The 24/1.8 is a great lens, especially now you have the in body stabilisation to make up for the lack of OSS. I'm quite tempted myself,

Is it?

The kit I got was £659, less £150 cashback. It's now back on Amazon at £833.79:

It looks like the Sony offers were just yesterday. A7 at £659, A6500 at £949 and RX100IV at £480.

They have all gone up again now (albeit the A6500 only by £11!)

Mine too. I must say I think that Sony are very slick with the cashback process now. I applied on Aug 18, got confirmation that my claim was eligible on Aug 20 and payment on Aug 28.

It's nice to have the confirmation of eligibility so quickly. Whilst I have never had a problem before this cashback was over a third of what I paid for the camera and a major reason for the purchase.

Me three. I haven't even paid the credit card bill for the camera yet.
