I have an old Canon EOS 1000FN camera with a couple of lenses. Looking at sites that buy used equipment nowhere seems to want film cameras. Ebay is a waste of space, so I reckon they're pretty much worthless.

Before I put them in the bin, does anyone know of any charities etc that could make use of them?

Try this guy https://www.rockycameras.com/ He's based near Bournemouth sow as good for me.

Rang him up, he came round, paid me cash there & then. Got more than I expected based on ebay prices.

The lenses will work on digital bodies and are probably worth more than the camera.

But if you're going to bin them you could give them to a charity shop.

You can sell anything on ebay, I sold a load of mostly-junk for a neighbour once after his father died and he had boxes of 70s stuff to shift. Maybe you will only get £50 the lot but are you OK to take a £50 note from your wallet and burn it? Me neither!

I'd make use of it! Only photography I do is film.

Other than that, Facebook groups are probably the way to go.

I recently sold two Olympus OM-10D kits with a couple of lenses and a few other bits for £70 a set, so netted £140. Not too bad really.Used Ebay as it was easy. Had some mixed experiences with Facebook. Communication and limited to local collection immediately limits your audience.

I'd consider one of two paths:

Firstly just put them up on eBay, separately, and see what the fetch. If you're never going to use them, any cash realised is a bonus.
Or, just sell the lenses, as they'll probably net the best price, and keep the camera hidden away somewhere and sell it when it (might, just might) be worth more.

Bear in mind that a perfectly good 8 megapixel dSLR from Canon or Nikon might only sell for £70, so a mediocre 35mm SLR is unlikely to be a true collector's target.

Loads of them on eBay (just looked), will do well to sell quickly?

I had a 35mm SLR with a selection of lenses. I gave them to a photographic school. The chap seemed very grateful.

I wouldn't have got much for them.

I got a fair price from Jessops, when I px’d lenses towards new kit. They didn’t want the film body..

if you're not going to sell them at least do this. There will always be people who are into photography that are into using film that will leap on the idea of gettiing a full frame SLR.

I think you can sell them for decent whack of working. I got into film a few years ago and decent film gear still gets a premium on places like eBay, especially any film SLR.

Even the crap stuff will get something quite often as the lomo crowd will buy it!

I think you need to look on eBay. The famous 35mm SLRs go for incredible money.
