Hi
The display on my Canon 7D mk2 is almost unreadable when using it outside on a bright day. The display does not tilt but even if it did' I'm not sure it would any better. I have seen these hoods that help to shade the display but not sure if it will be any good. Especially when the camera is pointed downwards.

Does anyone use these?
I realise the simplest solution would be to wear a black hood covering my head and the display but I look stupid enough without that!
There does appear to be an electronic viewfinder that clips onto the hot-shoe that replicates the image on the lcd display, but I don't think this would work with my camera.
Are there better solutions out there?

Stop chimping......
Ha! That's a new one for me. Actually I prefer to look at the display rather than the viewfinder. Any adjustments to the picture are shown. All you get on the viewfinder is what the settings are.I only check for blinkies, but I tend to shoot stuff I know, so only need the occasional chimp to check weather fluctuations affecting the results.
That, or the organice interface anyways....

No need to apologise. Piss taking is all part of the fun I only check for blinkies, but I tend to shoot stuff I know, so only need the occasional chimp to check weather fluctuations affecting the results.

This looks promising. Thank you! After much dithering, I decided to get one of these:

I don't need the rails but of all the multitude of types, it seemed to get the best reviews. Hopefully I've not wasted my money and will report back in due course!

The Calumet display hood, loupe, whatever you want to call it, arrived today. I must say it is nowhere near worth what I paid for it (like a lot of photography stuff) and possibly a cheaper version would have done. However, it is exactly what I was looking for. Once fitted it seems quite secure and hopefully will take a few knocks when I'm carrying the camera on it's sling. My eyesight is not great but I can now see and read the display clearly without wearing my glasses (which I never seem to have with me outside anyway!). So far so good. Thanks to singlecoil for the heads up!
