Daughter wants a new camera for photography but she also has a youtube channel (nothing saucy - quiet at the back) so wants to use it for that too, meaning it needs a connection for an external microphone so as not to sound like she's shooting in the lav.

Does anyone have any ideas / experience at this price point? Prob can push to £280 - I know there was a thread earlier but that seemed to be close to £1k...

The Sony Handycam range are very good, and some of them have microphone sockets. Alternatively she can record her audio separately and use a video editing program such as Davinci Resolve (which is free) to sync the two together.

A better solution is a Zoom H1 and a mic of your choosing.

You'll be recording the audio seperately but that has the huge advantage of not needing a wire to the camera.

A simple clap to camera will make syncing easy, but software like Abobe Premier will do it automagically by comparing the unwanted audio from the camera mic with the nice audio from the H1.

It's what I've done for years, just be absolutely certain you've hit the record button on the external recorder too!
