I love my Osmo Mobile 2 but it does feel vulnerable with nearly £1K worth of phone in it so I'd rule it out in this case. I bought a cheap action cam from Gearbest for about £30. I'll try and find a link later.Something like this should work ok:

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, it might be worth looking for a second hand Canon which can use custom (temporary) firmware.
This adds lots of features, including some for time-lapse.
