I have a d80 but may be upgrading to a full frame in the near future. I need a good flash to do some very low light work. Back in the day, when the d80 just came out, the choices were (I think from memory) s600 or s800, the latter being favoured.
What's out there now, that could be used in d80 now and transfer over to me camera later?
Thanks!

If you want to stick to Nikon options, the SB700 is really nice.
But personally, I've gone off brand and bought a Meike 910 a few years ago and it's still going strong. Great functionality and seems very similar to the Nikon SB910 but obviously much cheaper. I assume, it is ultimately less durable/relaible though I have had no issues but I'm not a prolific flash user.
Worth looking too at Yongnuo and Godox seem very popular these days as well.

Godox V860II-N + Xpro-N Trigger .........amazing versatility and reliable product for less than £200
I love Nikon products, but this is so much better and a fraction of the price!

Thanks for the replies. I actually only need a basic reliable on-camera flash to be in dark, underground site conditions, so I keep coming back to the Nikon because it seems a pretty rugged option. The Godox in particular seems a very impressive system - significantly more capable than I need, but very interesting to see developments in a topic that I rarely look at.
