I have a M4/3 camera, a Panasonic GH1.
It's getting a bit long in the tooth, & I keep considering replacing it. The G9 or the GH5 would be suitable replacements if they had a pop up flash.

The whole reason for going M4/3 was to reduce the weight and size of the camera kit. If I did swap to a G9 or a GH5, then I'd need a hot shoe flash.
I really don't want or need anything more powerful than the pop up I already have, the GH1's pop up has a rather poxy guide number of 11.

However I'm failing to find anything in that category. All the hot shoe flashes are big cumbersome affairs.

Does anyone know of a really small hotshoe flash?

Failing that can anyone point me at documentation for Panasonic's hot shoe protocol? It can't be that difficult to knock one up.

Had a quick Google around, some other small suggestions were older models Olympus/Panasonic compatible but TTL apparently didn't work properly on newer Panasonics.

Thanks, that's the same siaze as the stuff I'm finding. The smallest of the two you've linked is 63L x 85H x 85D.
I just want to add a pop up flash to a camera that doesn't have one, I certainly don't want to add something that size to my kit.

I was thinking more along the lines of a cubic inch.
