Trying to get quotes from photographers for taking 30 digital photographs for glass products.

They are quite small and light. All of them are made from the same material and have the same colour and tint.

What sort of quotes should I be looking at? I've had as high as £800 and lowest £150.

Thanks

Glass is tricky to light. However if the set-up is the same for each and there's not much 'post' required I'd suggest a days work - my rate for studio was £350.

Do you have any pics of the items? It's hard to work out how to price a job until you can work out how long it'll take to do.

The kind of result you're looking for will make a difference too, so if you have an example of a style you like that would make it easier.

Turns out I've only got examples of shots of things in glass, rather than glass itself:

I certainly would'nt expect any change from £500.00 and at less than £250.00, I would want to see examples of their work first.

So you wouldn't want examples as long as it was £250+ ?

To be fair, yes I would!

Stick up an example of a photo similar to what you have in mind and I'll be happy to quote a price.

Wouldn't hurt for the OP to say whereabouts he is, says UK in his profile, sounds like the budget wouldn't support a long distance scenario.

That was going to be by next question - I wonder how many of the quotes so far have mentioned that?

To be fair, if it's a small client and a bespoke product I'd expect the licencing terms to be fairly relaxed.

30 small light things can be posted. But the tog would need an idea of the style required.

Re usage, any price is likely to be for taking only. But as Gonzales implies, if you then demand more money for every use you probably won't get the job. I include web use (for the client only) in my prices.

As above, it's difficult to give an accurate price without knowing how much work is involved. Frankly if anyone quoted you any figure without an idea of the hours involved, logistics and what you're going to do with the images afterwards I would say they are a chancer.

Plenty of chancers out there though.
