Does anyone have experience of working with or uploading files to Getty?

I've been asked to shoot an event for a brand and they want to put the images on Getty. I've never done this before so feeling a little bit out of my depth.
Do you charge usage or take a % of sales? Do they upload the files or me?

Is there a standard way of doing things?

Big brand, lots of money, their own PR company so being asked to do this feels a bit weird. Sorry if this is a little bit vague but I've no idea where to start.

sorry, original post deleted after I read your OP properly...

anyway, so THEY want to upload your shots to Getty ?

tell them to Jog on i'd say... you still own the rights and they will obviously take ££ from any sales they make on there...

They may see uploading to Getty as just another usage (eg like brochure, web, poster) and expect you to quote a fee.

But Lynchie is right, you own copyright (unless agreed otherwise) so you can say exactly what they can and can't do with these photos because they belong to you. So you could (a) refuse - but then in turn they could probably refuse to let you upload them there either as it could be construed as unauthorised use of their brand - or (b) propose a fee. So the fee is probably to best way forward, unless anyone else can think of a (c).

From what I can understand the brand would like me to capture a brand event attended by celebrities and then have the images available on Getty for syndication by press. Think Wimbledon, World Cup where 'brand' is either sponsor of event or endorses/sponsors celebrities/athletes in attendance at event.

I've been doing more research into this and Getty would charge me £200 per image uploaded to Getty. Getty would then sell those images on and keep all profits. (Not quite sure how that works).

The brand wants me to quote some standard day rates, edit rates and usage scenarios as well as quote usage for making the images available on Getty - amongst the other more normal uses like social media, brand print magazine and internet.

I'm not particularly precious about the files that would go to Getty as I know they wouldn't be worth much to me in an art sense, but the problem I do have is Getty would basically have an unlimited, perpetual, all media use which they would then use to make money each time an image is sold.

I'd want to be reasonably compensated with this in mind. I just wondered if anyone on here had any similar experiences or knew what fees we were talking.

Spoken to a few agents with consultancy services and nobody has a clue, the project sounds very similar to when Mario Testino and Kendall Jenner shot the behind the scenes of the Met Gala.

... that can't be correct ??

... the idea is you upload your shots, GETTY charge for sales and you get a %% from that..

what I would do is to increase your flat fee by 25-30% , or ask them how they are going to renumerate you for any sales via Getty...
