Hi folks,
A very self congratulatory post sorry.
I post a few bike pics up now and then over the years but mostly look in awe at all the incredible images that are on here and this forum has spurred me on over the years.
Started off shooting mountain bikes 4 years ago really and have worked my arse off in muddy fields at grassroots races all over and the photos have certainly improved somewhat over that time. Oh and camera equipment!
2017 i undertook some paid work for a new UK team and worked very hard to impress these guys and it has all paid off for 2018. Shot some big races for them now but just returned from the most amazing week that i have to pinch myself to believe!
I was asked by one of the worlds biggest race teams to attend a press camp to shoot their new 2019 downhill bike and i was the only photographer with world class riders and journalists form all round the world coming over to ride the bike. I can't show any pics from that as under embargo until August but the photos are looking great so far.
Then I've just had4 days at the Scottish round of the UCI mountain bike world cup. Full media access and have came away with the best work i have done so far.
Austria next weekend for a huge bike festival and then more European World cups.
I am a very happy guy and just wanted to share with you guys really.

Thanks guys for the posts.
I still am there at the grassroots races as my 13yr old races but it's pretty awesome that i have these opportunities. Something that i could never think of when i started.
Rubbing shoulders with the other established guys that i have admired for years is pretty special. Just have to make sure i keep delivering the pics!

That's brilliant and a great example of how to go about it for any aspiring photographers. Find a subject you enjoy and work hard enough at 'the bottom' and if you have a talent for it opportunities do come up as you've proved.
I know a motorsport photographer who basically did the same. Worked his arse off at club level for a local paper > BTCC > WEC in a couple of years, now constantly travelling the world.

A great big well done on getting this far. Let's hope you can continue on the path for as long as you wish,
I like this quote by Amy Shore:
"And one first and most important thing you should all know – no one really knows what they’re doing either. Sure, some of us have a better idea and feel like they’ve got a good grasp on things, but we’re all still just fumbling our way through it all and have a little self-victory party when something goes right. Don’t worry if you don’t feel you’ve got it all figured out, none of us do. And if you think you have got it all figured out, you’re probably not challenging yourself enough."

Fantastic images there and that coming from a Roadie
Also, I'm struggling to come to terms with that first picture being in Scotland. Looks like Spain or somewhere like that.
Nice story too. I bet many of us would like to follow your dream. I also enjoy photography, but the thought of making it as Pro are nothing bub a pipe dream.
