IRIX lenses, anyone used one?

Someone mentioned this recently when I was saying I'd been thinking about getting a wide-angle lens for night sky photography, I'd never heard of them and the chap I spoke to had never used one. Concepts seem sound, manual-focus only but that's not a big deal for my purposes, prices seem OK... Available in two versions each of 11mm and 15mm in Canon, Nikon and Penax fits. Anyone used one?
