Not entirely sure where to start with this, of if I'm even in the right section, but let's go with this and see where we move to.

I've been asked to put together a video for work, one that would be shown to new joiners to the 'company' and potential business partners, for want of a better phrase.

I've got a ton of imagery available to me and a bit of a storyboard about what themes and messages I'm putting out and the video should be less than 10 mins.

One thing the boss is keen to include is the sort of satellite zooming in effect, where it starts off looking at earth orbit level and then zooms in and in and in until it's at your location. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do that?

Secondly, I then need to edit or put together a sort of animated presentation, a good step up from Powerpoint, that will demonstrate our roles, structure, messages, themes etc - the one he used had an animated hand swiping through uploaded imagery. I don't want to copy that, but something along that sort of lines. i.e that will be easy for me to edit when roles and messages change every 18 months or so.

Grateful for any guidance!

Google Earth and keep your finger on the '+' button whilst filming it with your smartphone?

Don't forget, your boss will want to ptesent it himself to save money... 'Hello, my name is Barry Scott... no dammit it's Barry Smith... Hi I'm Barry Smith and here at X Ltd we can fulfil all your needs. Whether it's an A for doing B or a C for doing D, our highly trained team of highly dedicated professionals are highly motivated to provide the highest service no matter what your requirement requires. How was that?'.

There are a million platforms to do that sort of thing on, but in my experience doing it as a one-off is a nightmare. Especially at 10mins.

If (and I'm only assuming you don't because you're asking here) you don't have experience doing animations, video editing etc it can take A LONG time to achieve even seemingly basic stuff.

I tried recently to make a couple of 15s videos. Just titles and transitions, with a 3D animation type thing. fking nightmare just getting the transitions right because essentially I was winging it. I gave up and paid someone.

I agree.

10 minutes is an awful long time to fill.

You are looking at a lot of different skills required. If I'd been given the job, I'd find one and copy it as far as copyright laws allow.

20 years ago I'd have quoted the OP about £7K for that (inc £1K for the graphics bit), and probably won the business. But there'd have been a pro cameraman, pro editor, pro graphics bod, pro VO/presenter and pro scriptwriter/director (me). The OP will do it for 3p but has to do all of those himself!
