Hello

I organise an annual Chateau Run for the Lamborghini Club UK. Its a long weekend in early June. We drive down to a Chateau in France. If anyone here is interested in photographing and/or creating a video of the event please PM me. This year we have 19 lambos registered. Its a wonderful selection of cars from Classics through to almost all the modern models. Photos to be shared with the participants and the club. It would be good opportunity for anyone looking to build up their portfolio.

The dates probably wouldn't work for me, but I've sent you a pm for more info anyway.

As Simpo says, you need to pay for this kind of service, and the reason you got a couple of jokey replies is because your initial post suggested it wouldn't be paid.

Which is a bit like me asking you to come round to my house and spend a couple of days installing a home cinema system for me just because it would look good in your portfolio of work.

That's nice to hear. I guess you don't need a professional on pro rates, but someone whose work is good enough to have it as a paying sideline. A few things to ponder:

Will you provide transport or will they have to try to keep up in their own car, buy their own fuel etc?

Will you include them in the accommodation package and make them 'one of the team' (because he/she needs to be)? That would be a much healthier start.

Then, bearing in mind he/she will have to work (not only on the trip but processing them afterwards) and that free work is rarely good work - you may also consider putting a little something in their pocket. This isn't my thing but If it was, £100 a day would make me feel valued, work better and ensure I don't just lounge about enjoying the view!

Of course you may get a volunteer for £0 and it might go swimmingly, but something on the table will get more and probably better 'applicants'.

There is actually a parallel between this and what I used to do, wedding photography. This is like a big long wedding, and for best results the tog needs to be 'emdedded'. As I always said 'A fed tog is a happy tog'! And happy togs work harder and get better results.

Hopefully that's some useful pondering, and I hope you have a great trip and get equally great photos/video for the Club smile

Great post Simpo.

I agree with it all, and would also agree that a semi-pro or skilled enthusiastic amateur 'tog would be good for a trip like that for around £100 a day plus expenses and suchlike.

Sounds like a great trip out.

I'd be interested, pending some details and figures. Not looking for portfolio work but shooting cars is my day job. You can get in touch via info@gtphot.com if it's easier.
