I have seen the latest Nikon 24-70 lens, the one with image stabilisation, at £999 here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Nikon-AF-S-Nikkor-2...

That’s nearly half the price at Jessops etc, and around £600cheaper than HDEW.

Too good to be true?

That's not a VR lens...

It's only £80 cheaper than one from HDEW....

It is possible to take photos without VR you know, especially in these high-ISO days.

I have the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 which does have stabilisation - I never use the stabilisation. It is a cracking lens though, I couldn't justify the significant uplift to the Nikon version but the Tamron is great.

I d been reading reviews of the G2 version of that lens, is that the one you have?

It seems very capable and can be found for under £1k .
That’s a lot left over for another lens!

I liked the way the G2 could still get more sharp images at slow shutter speeds than the latest Nikon could.

No, mine is the previous version, this one - http://www.tamron.eu/uk/lenses/sp-24-70mm-f28-di-v...

I got mine on eBay for about £440 in near mint condition. mpb.com have a few from about £400 for "well used" up to £560 for "like new". I couldn't see how the G2 version could be 2 to 3 times as good considering the prices are about double the earlier ones.
