As per the title, I have a DSLR and want to try and do this but don’t know where to start!

Do you know what camera that photo was taken with?

These days it's likely to have been taken on a phone and had a fancy B&W filter added on Instagram. You can try and replicate by adjusting contrast, exposure, gamma etc in Photoshop, but it will be tricky to get the exact effect.

Looks like a duotone to me, as well as having a gradient from the top right via a layer mask.

I mean, I agree that it seems heavily edited in photoshop.

Ok, sounds rather tricky! I better get my google/wikihow on!

No idea about the filter, but I have two cars with PB at the beginning of the plate. Are you nearby?

I'd be happy to run an image of your choice through the PS stages which I think the image in question might have been put through, in order to get a clearer understanding of the processes, and possibly give you a step by step if you like?
