Infinity focusing on Sony RX100
Discussion
Ok, a bit of a niche request, but I know that RX100 is quite popular on here. I tried to photograph the moon this evening with my RX100i - set the ISO to 100; f11 on A priority. Problem I have is setting the manual focus to infinity. I set the focus to M and turned the front ring, but it won’t have it. Sure, it’ll focus manually on objects in the room etc, but not distant, poorly lit ones (the moon!) Any ideas?
Thanks

Selecting M from the upper rotating dial allows you to manually change the shutter speed and aperture, it doesn't control the focusing.
In order to change from auto to manual focusing you need to go into the menu > then look for 'Focus Mode' and change to 'Manual Focus' which on my Mk3 is located under the first tab that looks like a camera and select the third page.

I must admit that I tried taking a few photos of the moon using a compact camera many years ago and ended up with a load of very blurry photographs so gave up!
I posted a thread on here asking for advice on moon pics which resulted in some fabulous photos being uploaded from other users.

Apparently you have to turn the manual focussing ring quickly for it to register that you want it to do it:
