I bought my DJI Spark before Christmas and have managed to get about an hour's flight time so far. Ive got the flymore package with the controller. I started using an old Xiaomi handset that I thought would be good enough, but not the case. I then started using my Pixel phone which was better but video still lagged badly. I bought a OTG cable and the video connection and flight range improved dramatically. However, DJI don't officially support the Pixel line and for some reason with the OTG cable connected I don't receive real time height/range information and the landing function is bugged. I can take off fine but no RTH function and auto landing is greyed out. I have to manually fly it back to me then grab it mid air to flip it upside down to turn it off.

So given the above situation what options do I have? The most likely one seems to buy something like an iPad mini and a mounting bracket but I really don't want to have to shell out another £250-400 on yet another device. Seems like device support from DJI is poor for android phones and tablets.

What's everyone else using?

Ok it seems that DJI never intended OTG capabilities on the Spark. The most recent app update 4.1.8 broke the telemetry from the drone if using OTG cable but have claimed to be working on fixing it. Current solution is to roll back the install to 4.1.5 in order to use OTG which is what I will have to do I guess.

I bought a second hand Nexus 7 tablet, seems to be one of the better android devices for DJI use, think I paid around £80. Not had any issue on my Spark or P4P with it.

Hi - I use either my iPhone, or an iPad Pro (9.7 inch version). - for the iPad you need an adapter/holder as the built in solution doesn’t go wide enough to grip.

Bought adapter off of amazon for about £21 but came with a few other bits - works a treat and is aluminium, not plastic.

Ipad/tablet adapter Spark/Mavic

If I were you look for a 2nd hand iPad to use.

Is the controller the same as the Mavic ? Think it is, If so an iPad mini fits without an adapter

Believe they are similar in size, but the Spark controller doesn’t have a built in screen like the Mavic.
