I mean other than mpb.com - I have a couple of lenses I'm not using now since I changed to a FX body so looking to sell them on. I have them advertised on Facebook marketplace and a couple of local groups for buying and selling camera kit but no bites so far. Both are priced fairly. I did get quotes from MPB.com for both but the offers were a little disappointing.

Not keen on ebay but I'll put them on Gumtree this week but wondered if there were any other worthwhile places to try?

It very much depends on what they are.

You can check what sort of trade in prices you can expect at https://uk.webuy.com. If they're fairly common DX lenses etc then you may struggle to recoup much at all as they'll suffer from the Altered Beast problem e.g. everyone's already got one as it came bundled with the body.

People go to remarkable lengths to avoid eBay don't they. It's my first choice for buying/selling kit. OK you'll lose 15% on fees and Paypal (if used) but you'll have the biggest audience and logically therefore the best price.

So neither of them are a kit lens, I don't want to go into what they are on here in case that's construed as advertising on the forum, but they're not like super-niche specialist things nor are they the sort of thing that everyone already has. I haven't had them listed for terribly long, I got someone potentially interested in one of them but he's gone silent. I was really just looking to see if there was anywhere else I'd be well advised to put them for sale.

Thanks Simpo, I'll consider ebay some more but was just hoping to avoid that.

If you're registered on there, you could put them on the Talk Photography classified forum, or possibly another photo forum with classified ads?

I'd just go for ebay. As long as you've got plenty of decent pictures and the descriptions are accurate, then they should do OK.

I've found when I've tried selling stuff on forums you get people wanting mint stuff but at a fraction of the cost of new, and some people just want to publicly talk down the price, without really intended to buy it. I can't be bothered will all that, if you don't want it, don't comment.

I've sold via talkphotography.co.uk a few times easily and quickly

I've also sold to mpb and they've offered me decent money, another quick and easy transaction.

Whilst not local to you, I'd recommend Camera World in Chelmsford and London (they do distance valuations, you don't need to go into the stores). I've sold a few bits and been surprised at the price I got, both direct trade and PX.

Thanks all. I am on Talk Photography but haven't been there long and don't yet have access to the classifieds sections.

I'll look into Camera World this week.
