(Scuba) Chaps, quick advice please:

GP Hero4 flooded during last dive and replacement is required. We have a RX100iii lying around that gets little use.

Question: what is the better option, Ikelite housing for the RX (£335) or Hero 5 Black & Super Suit (£ 339) ?

Prefer video over stills for recreational diving in tropical waters.

Anyone?

My 14 year old has a hero 5 black and used it on holiday in turkey last year with no problem, good clear shots but we weren't diving just snorkelling..

The rx will has a much bigger sensor, so will be better in murky low light. But will be HD only and will eat batteries. Zoom lens means, if the housing allows, you can zoom into things for some close ups.

Hero 5, is probably going to easier to use underwater. GoPro is much wider angle, which kind of suits diving, and has a lot more recording options.

The RX will give you much better footage, but will be more of a faff in the case.
