Canon Extender EF2xII
Discussion
Hi folk's,
Just a quick one, does anyone know if a extender EF 2 xII , is compatible with a EOS 1D MK2 and EF 28-300 mm L IS lens. I've seen one in a local second hand shop for 120 pounds . I am tempted, but want to know if the combo will work before paying out.
Thanks in advance for any reply's

Possible, but restricted zoom range and not advisable!

Thank's Nelly and Tog,
I've had a niggle in the back of my mind that this extender would not work fully with this lens. Now you have confirmed it, I didn't want to have it on then forget about winding back the lens, and so damaging both parts.
Looks like no short cut for me. I'll just have to save up a bit more for a more suitable lens, for real distance work.
Thanks again for the prompt reply's

The 2x should work.
You might want to expand on that statement. Canon say it won't, experienced forum members say it'll fit, but glass will hit glass at the wide end. I know the converters do work with more than Canon say they do though - some people use them with the TS-E lenses.
