Need a Push - New Camera

How much better will the Canon 80d be to the old 1200d?
My beloved 1200d bit the dust after one rainy F1 session in Monza this year. I'd like to upgrade, but it's a lot of money.
I'll be using the kit 1200d lens (kit are 18-55 + 75-300, but I also have a 60 macro and bottom of range 10-18 wide) for the time being, until I can afford better.
It'll be used for most kinds of photography... but maybe with a preference for sport.

If you were more than happy with the 1200, I'd say you'd probably be more than happy with whatever is the latest version.
Go to a shop and hand the new version and an 80D, see how you get on with the menus, buttons and size.
Then, maybe consider a used 7D2 maybe. Excellent for sport, great at everything else.

Was thinking of the 750d but, when visiting the shop, it didnt 'feel' a million miles from my 1200. The 80d felt like a substantial upgrade.Go to a shop and hand the new version and an 80D, see how you get on with the menus, buttons and size.

The 7D2's are expensive as the 80d's! Should have mentioned I'm looking at an import vendor (where the 80d's going for £620).

Whatever you choose, would recommend one of these as well!
That. The 80d is a decent camera and good upgrade, with a good sensor too. But its not weather sealed, tbh I would only really trust a 1 series out in light rain so this is a good idea to have with you.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
