Get some lens cleaning cloths - loads on ebay - with a bit of isopropyl alcohol if necessary.
Thanks for that.I've had decent cameras since I was in my 20s, that's over 40 years ago, I've never had to clean a lens. I've used ND filters but my compact doesn't take filters.
I always carry some Zeiss Lens wipes.
ASDA stock them if you've got one close:

Second this, its what Lens Rentals use and they are the experts. I buy them in 200 packs and use them on everything, computer screens, cameras, viewfinders, lenses. ASDA stock them if you've got one close:

Thanks for that, guys. I've always been scared of touching lens surfaces. I've wiped my neutral density filters with a glasses cloth, very lightly, and never had a scratch. One was broken once at Brands Hatch on Paddock Hill Bend. A car came off, threw a stone into the edge of the filter and it cracked. That was irritating enough, but I missed the shot as well. The bloke beside me had his glasses smashed, well one lens, and my face was peppered. The stones have been removed since that time.
