Flickr faved...

There is something about Flickr that I do not understand. I like to take photos and share them with friends and family. For this reason I have a Flickr-account. Yesterday I uploaded a photo that is not really brilliant or interesting. Today I got a message that someone faved the picture, someone with more than 50.000 followers. This also happened with some other photos. Is this a scam?

It's the vacuous way some flickr users (and many other social media users for that matter) work. Life revolves around views and followers. They'll comment and fave anything and everything in the hope that you do the same for them and bump up their numbers, for no particular reason.

Though for what it's worth, the first image is a nice portrait.

yep most of this stuff is automated too.

IG is the worst, so many followers for 2-3 days then gone, all to try and harvest attention, if only a few % bother its better than nothing apparently....


You can tell on facebook too, a page with literally millions of likes gets 30 post likes and no interaction = total paid page.

Ego massaging number building. I must admit I do follow others when they follow me. And other than a few family members then who else would look at my pics so it's nice to have even 500 views sometimes. Some of its legit for example I have a guy on my feed who always seems to take a photo of his beer. So I do the same sometimes and he favourites them. So i fav his. Kind of daft tongue in cheek stuff really. But yeah I get random favourites and think why?!
