8mm to dvd

Can anyone tell me the best way to transfer my old video 8mm tapes to dvd, I still have the camera so can play the tapes through the TV

A standalone DVD recorder would do it. You press Play on the camera and Record on the recorder.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that it used to be possible to buy combined VHS/DVD recorders which enabled copying of video tapes onto DVD, might be something to consider if you have a load of VHS tapes and wish to transfer the footage onto something digital - don't forget to copy the DVD onto MP4 or similar before DVD recorders are consigned to the bin using software like MPEG Streamclip.
