"Action" Thermal Imaging Cameras
Discussion
Hi guys.
I am competing in some armature racing and would like to increase my lap time (as all drivers want to!). Most of the time available is adjusting the nut behind the wheel, but there is also time in the car setup which I am looking to find.
For those of you who do not follow motorsport, tyres are the single most important part of a car, even ahead of the engine. Getting the tyres up to temperature, keeping them there and getting the most amount of available grip means seconds a lap. Keeping them within the window is about firstly setting up the car and then driving the car within the window of the tyre to get maximum performance.
I have a new car this year with an unbelievable amount of adjustment on it. Tow, caster, camber, spring rates, slow-speed compression, fast-speed compression, rebound, anti-dive, anti-squat and more. A adjustment with one setting effects every other element so you can only make one change at a time.
The long and the sort of it is, I would like to set up some thermal imaging cameras for use when testing the car and finding the best setup for the tyres and the squidgy ballast. I am fundamentally looking for small (GoPro like) thermal imaging cameras with memory capacity for at least 30 minutes.
I am hoping to re-create images like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX6u098OkX0 I can fabricate mounting brackets to get a good profile view of the tyre so don’t worry about the shape, but size matters (oh er mrs). I don’t mind if the images are recorded in camera or via a separate unit, I can route through cables in to the wheel arches. Finally, I only need two as we run symmetric setup at all circuits except Truxton and I am hoping they are not more than Go Pro money each (but I could be wrong about this).
Could anyone please help? My useless Amazon/Google searching comes up with loads of CCTV junk and drone stuff for hemp farms.
Any one interested in the car see below:

Have you looked at the Flir site, they have every combination of thermal camera , even for your phone
Or what about this , meant for a drone but might be what you want.
