Thanks for the recommendation, what is the main differences between the 7d Mk1 & Mk2 and also what would be classed as a low shutter count?
7D mk2 is much newer, its 290mp vs 18, better buffer, iso, 10 fps vs 8, improved metering and AF (f8 focusing etc) and the funky dual pixel cmso sensor tech.Other options are the 80d (current) or 70D
Depends what you want to shoot, 7d series is very performance orientated if you are into birds/sports etc
all will be a big step up on the 50d
The mtf of canon shutters:

Basically xxxD = 100,000
xxD =150,000
xD =150- 200,000+
Typically cameras get nowhere near that unless used for timelapse or very very heavily

we've no idea on his requirements other than he had a 50d, quite an unloved model tbh..
Well you've hit the issue right on the head. I've had a 50d since 2010 (albeit I have a newer camera now but I've still kept the 50d) and it was a robust, decent camera with a burst rate well suited to motorsports photography. And whilst you may not have loved it, I have enjoyed owning it, which kinda proves the value of asking opinions on the internet.At least going to somewhere like dpreview you get some actual measures to baseline the camera against, aswell as the opinion of reviewers who see many, many cameras.
Hi all, sorry for late responses,
Budget - £400 - £800 for body
Use - i need an all rounder, something that can handle windsurfing action photos from the beach and also holiday photos & group shots.
Also something that's not so complex the other half can use without reading a photography book.
Thanks

Now I didnt say I personally didnt love it. It was poorly received in the market for a number of reasons, which I personally dont agree with, but thats a fact.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
