Photomatix is weapon of choice for HDR - I presume they have a MAC version

Search for perfect effects 9 free for the Mac, that does HDR as well as a load if other stuff too.

Not sure about the picture mind.!

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally don't like it taken to this extreme - but others may like the aesthetic. It certainly has a unique, almost sketchy feel about it.
