D300s

A mate of mine has just got a cheap one of these of ebay. He's got it saving in RAW as well as JPG & it often spends what seems ages (probably upto a second really) just saying 'busy', is this just how they are when saving in RAW or is it a problem? The CF card is a Jessops 1Gb one & is new, but it doesn't say what class if indeed they have classes like SD cards.

Sounds like the card to me. The camera isn't that slow.

No such issues with my D300 saving raw and jpg.

Nikons probably have a bunch of raw formats on the D300s, 12bit, 14bit, uncompressed etc.

IF you cant shoot after one shot then something is up as the camera should have a buffer that allows multiple shots before it needs to stop and wait whilst writing to the card.

1Gb new? That was 2004...

They are speed rated, in 'x'. I think 1x is 1Mb/sec. Mine are 300x - but as Rob says there's a camera buffer.
