NEC Photography show - this weekend

I'd not heard of it until receiving an email ad today. I enjoyed the Focus show last year so will probably go to see how this compares.

Picked up a couple of small things and this..

Not a lot, some funky coldshoes in case I need some extra flashes in addition to my Quadra Rangers and that was about it, for the moment....

I did speak to Cambo and Linhof about upgrades from my Technikardan, a WideRS and Techno respectively.

Went with my dad today,
Bought a 5d mark ii refurb, 6d, 24-105, epson scanner, continuous ink system for the epson r3000. Mainly upgrading kit and entering the full frame world.


Edit to add, the battery which came with the 6d doesn't work, a little disappointing.

I went today and enjoyed it; the only thing I bought was a coffee but I picked up plenty of brochures for stuff I would like to buy.... A 100-400L I think will be next; I wasn't sure about the push-pull zoom but having played with one on the Canon stand I thought it felt very natural. The show was busy, queues for lots of things and nowhere near enough seats for people to sit and eat/drink.

As they are currently £900 on the Fuji refurb store, that is a real bargain!

Push-pull zooms made good sense in the days of manual focus, as one ring did zoom and focus. I still have my Vivitar S1 70-210mm f3.5 as a keepsake.

I use the 100-400mm a fair bit and it works really rather well. I love it!!

Hanging out a helicopter shooting with it was an experience I won't forget quickly!!

That would be the time I was hanging FROM a helicopter, not OUT a helicopter...

How come nobody has mentioned that exortionate £10 car parking charge yet? Not to mention the extremely overpriced food.

The show was pretty good, tried out some lenses (need to find £1.6k from somewhere for that 70-200 f/2.8 lens), listened in to some live shows, checked out products from printing companies and bought a camera strap.

Because 9/10 NEC shows come with a £10 parking fee, and st food, just how it is. That said tickets to the show were free so £10 for the day wasn't bad.

I went there adamant that I wasn't going to spend too much, even took the girlfriend with me under strict orders to stop me from buying anything. Came home with this...













It sure is lovely though

Yes, I think the NEC is definitely BYO! I bought one coffee and even that was quite expensive and not great. I was able to take a train to avoid parking; only £7 return from Leamington Spa which is fine, and free parking at the station on Sundays, but no seats left on the train, and it was 40 mins late! Oh well.
