Some impressive shots and only a few that left me this time.

I love the Mongol shot probably because I watched a documentary on them. They train Golden Eagles to hunt Wolves for them. There are few ways to be a bigger bad ass than that!

I still can't get my head around the Shanghai photo, taken in the area near the Jade Buddha Temple, it's just an old-style street in the city with some 80's apartment blocks behind it...and I'm not even going into the spot colour removal of the background...

That's one of the ones I was confused about. Every year there are a few shots I can't work out why they deserve such attention. It usually happens when there's a back story. For example the little girl being forced in to a beauty pageant and the Belgian houses. But to me, they just look like average shots that ought to accompany an article.

I just had a look on the Sony WPO site and am quite stunned at some of the photos which made their shortlist this year...is the quality of entries REALLY bad enough to warrant the likes of this in the travel shortlist:-
