I am looking for a reasonaly priced scanner for slides, colour and B & W negatives. All are 35mm and I just want to convert them to digital format, and print no bigger than 5 x 7.

Looked at the Epson range, so many to choose from, and TBH I have no absolutely idea what is the best/economical one to go for, or even if I need a Epson.

I have seen some ones which are quite small, I bought a Summitt Photofix Copier some time ago, didnt copy many and cant really remember how good it was, lost the software so it dosent work now, I think it was installed on my long lost dead PC.

So any ideas guys. Dont want top of the range, something reasonable for the price and end result.

Have you seen the Nikon Cool scan?

Quite a nice little scanner. Looks like there's a few on Ebay.

My dad fancies one if these to digitise his old photos, are the standalone ones that scan direct to memory card any better/worse than a one connected to a computer?

I use a Plustek OpticFilm 7400, and am very pleased with it. Not sure whether it's top or bottom of the range, but I recall they're about 170 quid

A mate decided to give the one Aldi were selling recently for about £35 a go. I'm accept spending a couple of hundred quid on one would probably give a better result but to my eye it's pretty good.

Well, thanks guys, seems like a minefield to me, but it's given me some to think about.

Another one for the Plustek OpticFilm 7400, very happy with the results.
