My 17-40L hit the deck recently and although it appears to be unmarked and still auto-focusses well, the manual focus ring is very stiff. I've never had the need to service a lens serviced before... is this the sort of thing that a good shop might be able to fix?
Give Canon Elstree a call, they've always been really helpful with me. Are you a Canon Professional Services member? If so they'll turn it around very quickly.
Thanks. I'm not a CPS member but see that they have a certified service centre near where I live in Switzerland so may give them a bell first. My back-up plan is to get it seen to within the UK at some point.
I had my 17-40 serviced b Fixation as a precaution after a skier landed on me, with their ski catching the lens. It wasn't too expensive and worth it for the peace of mind.
