I've been using my Canon 50mm F1.8 for a while now and like it a lot. Really want a wider angle though as shooting indoors is sometimes difficult.

Any thoughts on the sigma? Alternatives? Best place to buy?

Tks in advance...

I have the Sigma 30mm F1.4. I actually bought it to give me a more workable length than the Canon 50mm F1.4.

Probably the same situation to you.

IQ on the Sigma is just as good as the F1.4 Canon, and if anything just pips it IMHO. It's fast of course, and autofocuses quickly, and is superb in low light. I shoot indoors under normal lights and don't use a flash.

The Sigma's actually my default lens and the Canon hasn't got a look in for a while. If you are comparing it to the F1.8 it is a significant step up. You'll be surprised by the size and weight and build quality, there's a lot of glass there - it'll make the F1.8 50 look like a toy. smile

Just thought I'd update to say I bought me one of these. Going to try it out this evening.
Have done a lot of reading about the supposed rear focussing issues so will be checking this out and if needs be, getting it calibrated.
