Video editing software super slow motion - Mac

Hi all. Does anyone know if there's any free (or reasonably priced) software which can slow mo the 120fps from my new GoPro? iMovie only handles 30fps and this is a shame when I've captured video at 120fps specifically to do super slow mo.

You should be able to get a trial version (30 days) of Final Cut Pro X from the App store, not sure if it takes 120fps but worth a look in...

mmmmmmm. but it's £200 and I'll need the software for more than 30 days so the trial would not be a permanent solution. Was hoping to find something a bit cheaper as I mainly use iMovie, but this can only import 30fps which is no good for super slow motion.

The is an app on idevices called 'slo pro' that might do what you are after. Not pro grade but it bad for a laugh.

You're pretty much limited to professional video editing software for 120fps. That said I don't know a single person who has paid for Adobe software for personal use (Pro's I know all pay).

Excuse my ignorance, but I presume that is illegal? I mean there's not a 'free' personal use option?

Look on YouTube for the 'twixtor' plugin - maybe that's what you're after?

Twixtor looks to be a plugin to Adobe After Effects which costs a fortune?

You can change the frame rate using Go Pro's CineForm Studio:

1. Import the clip
2. Advanced Settings - change frame rate from 'source' to 29.97 fps or whatever
3. Add clip to conversion list
4. Convert

The you can import into iMovie.

Also seen mention of VLC on another site, in relation to a question about a Hero2 and 120pfs - so might be worth grabbing that to see what it can do other than playback 120fps.

Isn't it that you want it at 30fps then reduce the clip speed down to 25% then as its filmed in 120fps there will be enough frames to cope with smooth action?

Problem with that is that Cineform exports as .mov and iMovie can't import that file type?

Works on mine (maybe 'cause I've got FCP installed, but doubt it). I can't drag-n-drop but have to "Import".

Ah yes, my bad. I obviously was doing something wrong as I can now import .mov files into iMovie. Perfect solution thanks, although I hear Cineform does nasty things to the quality of the video, but so far I've been happy. Cheers

Another vote for CineForm studio here, it actually seems like pretty decent software for a freebie.
