Starting a camera club....

Hi,
I was looking to join my local camera club, I subsequently discovered they have a waiting list of 2 years for membership, so that has made me think about starting my own. I know there is a demand for this if the waiting list is 2 years! Also have run a few photowalks amongst friends which became surprisingly well subscribed with no effort.
So, I guess I am looking for any ideas, hints and suggestions on taking the next steps. I have bought a suitable domain name and I have a few people in mind who I am in the process of contacting.
I am thinking of keeping it fairly informal to begin with.
Any help would be advice would be appreciated.

I think it is a general thing at the moment, I don't want to pigeon hole things too much in a way that might put people off. I guess the main objective is fun and creativity. However we are spoilt with great outdoor scenery so I think there will be a bias to being outdoors.
2 years is the waiting list at my local club, I don't want to wait that long and to be honest I am not sure I want to belong to one where new faces and novices are turned away!

I belong to our village Camera Club which has a monthly meet September to June.During this period we now have one or two very interesting speakers i.e local paper photographer,a magazine photographer, a portrait photographer to name a few.
We got a few people together and firstly discussed what we wanted it to do for us.Although we have different types of cameras and some of us had very little experience. It started off with us bringing in photos and discussing them amongst ourselves as to how we could improve on them. We also have a subject to do photos for the following month which get displayed on a board at the village school.
Jubilee year celebrations produced an exhibition of our photos through the year.
We also do a visit somewhere of interest to photograph locally for one of the meetings.
Last night we had someone talk about their holiday White Water Rafting down the Grand Canyon with photographs and explaining which cameras she had used for various shots and why.We had someone on wildlife photography in Kenya too amazing how many different lens he used. We are hoping he will come back again.We have also produced a local calander each year.
We have tried to keep it to a fairly relaxed group but at the same time learn from others.
