Three identical layer copies and each one slightly moved then blended together?

Choices

1) Take one shot, duplicate the layer then move the second layer and add a layer mask. Rub out the bits you dont need
2) Long exposure and get the subject to move

Mine's more safe for work, but still not something you'd leave on an open desktop, so...
