Tripod recommendation

I have a Manfrotto 714B that is used occasionally but the fact that the leg clips have now been replaced twice at £15 a shot has put me off. So, it's time for a new one. I do mainly macro work and the odd landscape. With my camera and lens 2kg capacity is more than enough. I've been looking at the Velbon Ultrek 43D. Any comments on that one or recommendations please?

Not familiar with the 714B, and a bit off-topic, but why are the leg clips giving up?

I have an ancient 055C Manfrottage and there's no sign (fingers crossed) of problems like that.
