Anyone using a Hoya Pro1 Digital UV filter?

http://www.hoyafilter.com/products/hoya/pro1d-03.h...

Since pre-digital days I've had Hoya UVs on all my lenses (OK, except when using a different filter), and have continued this with digital, partly because of the protection (got a nasty knock in a safari jeep and I'd much prefer that happened to a UV filter than the lens itself).

I always use a hood, so glare rarely a problem - does anyone have experience of the glass and coating quality of the Pro1D?

I always used Hoya top of the range filter back in film days. Quality seems good. They have been through a few ownerships in he meantime afaik but no reason to suppose quality has suffered.

Here's Bob Atkins on the subject of filters.

Personally I don't usually bother with lens protection filters though I seem to recall that one of my lenses had one fitted when I got it and I have not removed it.

There is some potential for unwanted flare but the trade off is protection especially if you don't have a hood fitted.

Thanks for the link - that was the other reason I've kept to UV filters, I've done quite a bit of aerial photography
