As title guys, I want a new camera before I go on holiday. Ideally something that is fairly quick to snap, not something that takes an age to take the photo while the moment disappears. I am a camera noob, so a point and shoot compact is what I'm after. Any recommendations?

That was quick. Thanks, I have a Canon Ixus 990is at the moment but it's on the way out and doesn't always focus properly which is a pain in the arse. I wondered if they were still regarded as good for the money now.

My missus has a 220 and I'm amazed at what it'll do, although it is a bit fiddly to get into the menus on all these compact cameras. The smile detect feature is amazing!

Battery life is good too.

If you're interested I have a brand new Olympus XZ-1 that you can have for £200

It was a competition prize, I tried it out and was really impressed so was thinking of keeping it it but the other half gently reminded me that I already have 3 cameras and 4 would be silly. So looks like it has to go.

It's a good quality compact, small and light but IQ is excellent and has a fast f1.8 lens

sorry didn't mean to turn this into an advert!

Have a look at the panasonic lumix TZ20,the TZ30 is out now so they can be had for about £150, I bought the wife the TZ15 a few years a go, its a great little camera with a good zoom, Built in GPS (bit of a gimmick) also has one touch video record button on the top of the camera,
Have look around at the reviews, amazon etc , most are very good.

If you can find one, Canon S95 or even the older S90.

Hi, looks like a good camera, how would we sort that out though?

I was going to send you a private message but can't see how to do that on here?

If you are anywhere near Suffolk we could meet up... or if (understandably) you don't want to send money to a stranger on the internet, I can set up a classified ad on here or put it on ebay with a buy it now price for you to make it more legit.

My email address is minnsjustin@gmail.com or mobile is 07734 068605 if you'd like to discuss it off the forum
