From what i've seen that is the full size image, not the last word in quality but an interesting concept

No, it used a completely different principle to capture the image, you'll have to Google it 'cos I'm not clever enough to explain it.

The sensor records light on multiple focal planes.. rather than the one.. somehow.

I believe the principal behind it is known as 'witchcraft'

When i try to focus on the second coin, it brings focus to the front coin instead! Something a bit screwey. Interesting technology though.
