Camera upgrade from 450D

Hi, currently have a Canon 450D and I'm thinking of trading it in for 600D, I'm liking the full HD video, flip screen, RAW shooting in all modes plus all the other spec increases

Any thoughts? I'm also thinking a 650D has to be due soon given the release date of the 600D but this'll reduce my trade in value even more

If your happy with the size and limited control layout then go for it.

Budget is a major factor and I'm happy shooting with the xxxD range, don't think I need/can afford xxD or xD models

If it's purely a spec increase you want then the 600d is a good upgrade. However have a look at used 60d (not sure if you'd want new or used) because the ergonomics are better.
The controlls on the higher spec models allow you to change more functions more quickly.

I was shopping for a new 60d when I bought my used 7d because there wasn't a great deal of price difference*. You may be pleasantly surprised at the costs involved.

I've also been looking at the 600d but it's been out so long that the 650d must be hot on it's heels.....does anyone know if the 650d is around the corner anytime soon?

I wish you hadn't mentioned 60D, seems I can get a 60D on eBay for 600D money (Lmost)

Rather unsure about spending that amount of money on eBay even though seller looks great

Each camera-body-upgrade thread also needs the obligatory statement :
Are you sure you need to upgrade your camera? Wouldn't the money be better spent on different / better lenses?

Well, I guess part of the argument is that lenses are more of an 'investment' also. Cameras come and go, but great lenses are always great - and can hold a fair bit of value too

I bought my 7d from the talkphotography forum sales bit, you have to be registered for a couple of months and have a certain post count before you can even see the ads so it weeds out quite a lot of the muppets.
I bought a lightly used one with 3 Canon batteries, there were no used 60d's available at the time and new ones were not much off what I paid.

Another place to keep an eye on is MPB photographic, they have quite a lot of stock moving through all the time so it's worth checking now and again.

Go on, you know it makes sense! A better body may not immediatly provide better pictures but if it's easier and more intuitive you'll use it more.

The one on ebay does look good. They've obviously sold a lot and have a high positive feedback score.
